Tricks and tips to get the perfect Cape Fear area rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your Cape Fear area rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the right Cape Fear area rental:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Classic Oceanfront Cottage w/ Private Walkway, 2 Decks, Easy Walk to Carolina Beach Fun has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Cape Fear area destination you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
