"The Enchanted Mermaid" is a Pup Friendly upper duplex managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate and is the ideal beach location to bring the ENTIRE family, paws and ALL! This second floor two bed/one bath apartment is just two blocks from our sandy shores, a moderate walk to downtown CB, and all the sea sights, sounds, and experiences you are looking for!

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, our "max. capacity" and restricted parking options will always limit the number of visitors who can both rent on and visit our Island simultaneously! It’s a family-aligned beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The home is in the heart of Carolina Beach and moderate walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s (on a huge inflatable screen in the middle of the lake!). We welcome you to sit back, relax and appreciate yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!

This home is a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world appeal, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while visiting with us on our Island!

The entry to this 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath suite opens into a freshly furnished family room combined with an open dining area and entirely equipped kitchen (stove oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is supplied will all the basic cooking and dining silverware one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home (while on Vacay!). Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen.

The home's ONE QUEEN, ONE TWIN, and ONE TWIN + TWIN bunk bed consist of either a plush luxury bed or a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition bed because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge.

There is one intelligent TV in each suite to utilize one's personal subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and savor some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Bring a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or another such casting device if looking to ensure all the tech amenities from home are available during your stay!

The outdoor shower is located on the lower right of the building to help get that sand off of those toes!

Guest access;

The HOME: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a private deck. The back yard is shared by BOTH suites and should not be used for family pets to run loose unattended at any time. Proper pet etiquette and owner responsibility should be followed at all times!

PARKING: Each guest will have access to (2) TWO 8'x14' assigned parking spaces. Any additional community parking spaces would have availability on a first come first serve basis.

•Closest BEACH access: Oyster shell Public Beach Access (Oyster shell Lane).

Neighborhood description

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island. The home itself is one block away from the ocean, and across the street from the Intracoastal Waterway. The property is set seven blocks from downtown Carolina Beach with its stores, activities, and dining.

Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We really have an extraordinary community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Perhaps more calming and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Pup rules for Pet Friendly homes

•Any interactions between your furry son or daughter and other neighbors (animal OR human) are completely at your discretion (and *liability). Please be a responsible pup owner and protect yourselves and others as may be necessary!
•Pups are NEVER allowed on any furnishings. (*Single biggest added charge from the cleaners/owners post stay.)
•Be sure to use a broom or vacuum if your buddy sheds in excess.
•Do NOT let your pup bark excessively in any multi-unit environment.
•ALWAYS pick up after your pup IMMEDIATELY after the potty sesh.
•If maintenance needs to visit, ENSURE your pup is put in their respective kennels. This coincides with rule #1.
•If the home/apartment has an outdoor shower, please use it to rinse off your pup after a day of fun. Not only will that help to prevent a potential plumbing call (typically pup hair: that would fall to the guest to remedy $), but a clean pup is much less likely to result in a post stay hygiene charge (sand+salt+stinky can =$).

•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective booking site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios unless the property itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute best to find you alternative housing.

Tips to get the best Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • To get the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the best rental in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Choose your vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. \"The Enchanted Mermaid\": PF Upper Duplex has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your group.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
