Rental booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Cape Fear area vacation rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting and booking your prefect Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Kings Lynn Inn: Walkway to the Intracoastal Waterway, Private Dock, Close to Bea has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
