Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Book your Cape Fear area vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking your prefect Cape Fear area rental:
- Start by having your family agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Gone Coastal OF Duplex with Salt Water Pool-Watch Fireworks from the Deck! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
