Tricks and tips for getting the best Cape Fear area vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best value, change your family's Cape Fear area vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for local tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Fishtown- Holden Beach 2nd Row - Pet Friendly!! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Have a great stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
