Tips to get the very best vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose your prefectrental home:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Doin` Time at Ocean Isle Beach, Canal Front home, boat dock, elevator and extra living room has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
