Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to a budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family select dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Dazzling, Multi-Level, Oceanfront House w\/Private W\/D, Central AC, WiFi, Patio has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
