Our top Cape Fear area rental home booking tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose the right Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Choose vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. CB House (Bike Trail, Brewery, Boardwalk, Park) has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your family.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
