Finding the best Cape Fear area rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beach Home sleeps up to 8, ocean and intercoastal views has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Cape Fear area destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
