LARGE DUPLEX IN PRIVATE GATED COMMUNITY: Each side has its own "name". The East-side is named "M & M" (in honor of our late great aunts) and the West-side is named "Joy of Flying" (in honor of the pilots in our family). This is your opportunity to stay in a alluring 8 bedroom home. The home has a huge open floor plan main living area with the kitchen, dining and living area all occupying the majority of the main floor. There are giant windows along the ocean side accepting fabulous vistas and tons of light. There is a huge interior doorway between the two sides making it ideal for family gatherings. Walk down the short hallway and you are now in the open floor plan of the other side. However, if the kids want to play games on one side, just close the doors and with all the bespoke interior soundproofing, they are now peaceful (as far as you know). Each side on the main floor has two guest suites each with its own enormous bath including a tub/shower. The second floor is designed as a family type suite with a master bedroom sharing a "Jack and Jill" bath with a room with two twin beds. Every room has multiple windows to allow the light to flow into the home.

With the need to protect the home from tidal storm surges, the home is constructed upon sizable pilings which gives an unintended benefit of a amazing area for the kids to play. A smooth concrete floor gives a tremendous amount of skateboard, cycling, corn hole or even a modest soccer game room to play. Pull the cars back into the driveway and the kids have room to play without playing in the street. Join them downstairs and relax in the two-person wooden swings. When it's time for the beach, there are tons of body boards, chairs, and beach toys located in the lockable storage area under the home that have been included over the years by us and by other renters for their enjoyment and the enjoyment of others. Take what you want out to the beach.

The definitely best part of visiting here at Joy of Flying and M&M is the beach. A very short walk across the street and either left or right a couple of homes down will give you two choices for beach access locations. Our home is the one with two options for beach access so close. The beach on the West End is always peaceful and there is plenty of room for your family. If your idea of a beach is hoping you can find room for your towels, think again. Holden Beach West is sparsely populated, so even at the peak of summer you still have plenty of room to play Frisbee, or throw the football. We've had many soccer and lacrosse games on the beach over the years. While in the spring and fall there is room to practice with your long irons on the beach, the town asks that we not practice our golf swings on the beach so we can protect the ocean from the occasional slice.

Two queen bedrooms on each side have private baths. Each side sleeps 8. The interior walls have been insulated to keep the sounds to a minimum which helps get a good nighttime's sleep or an afternoon nap. There is room for the kids to play under the home with swings on each side and tons of room for younger kids to ride big wheels, etc. The home is well-maintained and you might even feel that you are staying in a brand new home. We have renters who have been with us for twenty plus years and they keep coming back because it feels like home.

One of the humongous benefits of renting our vacation home is we allow the right of first refusal for the following year to the current year's rental family. Once you rent with us, you always have the right of first refusal on that week for the following year at the end of your week of relaxation at Holden Beach. This accepts you the ability to have your own personal time-share without the costs. As long as you let us know prior to checkout you want the same week the next year it stays yours. We usually have a wait list for summer weeks, so if you do not rebook the week might go to someone else. Prime summer weeks have families who have rented for decades.

One of the few homes on Holden Beach that provide linens with the rental. Instead of requiring families to either bring their own linens or rent linens from commercial agencies like most other homes; we have decided to provide our own linens for our guests. Now when you show up to vacation, the beds will be made, there will be towels in the bathrooms and you can get right to visiting. We hope that with time, our new policy will be adopted everywhere on the beach. Savor.

Note: Do you need a smaller space?. Contact us for prices and details to rent just one side of this duplex.

Unfortunately, due to multiple occurrences of damage to our home or yard, we no longer allow weddings or receptions to be held in our home. .

2023 Upgrades to upstairs King Bed and all bedrooms have new bed sets. We also upgraded the WiFi range and bandwidth for better streaming. We now have on-site under-home security cameras for added protection and security. Two large 4-burner propane grilles allow full summer grilling.

Come join us for a week in heaven. Here’s why:

* One of the best-rated, least busy and most handsome family beaches found anywhere.
* Very Private, with phenomenal ocean vistas, decks and yet very close proximity to the beach (2nd row, only feet to private beach access.
* Tasteful, roomy and modernized accommodations with much more space than most single-family homes of similar price
* Approximately 40 world-class golf courses within a 40-min. radius.
* Pristine & uncrowded wide white-sand beach
* Plenty of great dining choices, shopping and kids’s amusements, all within a 5-mile radius. New full-service grocery store located just across the bridge on the mainland, now open!
* 24-hour Super Walmart (not sure why I listed that)
* Some of the best fishing and boating on the East Coast

Unwind and savor the rockers on the porch or the swings underneath the home. Inside you'll find a cavernous living area with refreshed and tasteful decorations throughout.

Our property is very private, yet you're next to the beach, You will appreciate the location of our home. To walk onto the beach, you simply cross the street on a diagonal and walk down a comfortable wooden walkway to the beach. The beach has been maintained throughout the years as a family beach with little commercial emphasis.

Holden Beach is still a well-kept secret, perhaps not for long. National Geographic Intelligent Traveler magazine newly ranked Holden Beach among it's top 10 'Finest Family Beaches' category. Additionally, AAA Beach Vacation Travel Journal freshly ranked H.B. one of their 'Top 30 Beaches' overall. H.B. offers a great alternative to the hordes and commercialism of close by N. Myrtle Beach, which is only roughly 30 miles away.

*Linens arrangement: 3 queen beds, 2 twin beds in the main living area for additional sleeping on each side of the home.

**Additional indoor photos gladly supplied upon e-mail request.

Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Book your Cape Fear area rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the best vacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 8 BR\/6+ BA 2nd Row: Gated Community. Beautiful Family House, vacation in style has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
