Tricks and tips to get the perfect Cape Fear area rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Classic beach cottage w private beach boardwalk! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area attraction you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
