Strategies for getting the perfect Cape Fear area rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer is high season in Carolina Beach. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Cape Fear area attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking your prefect Cape Fear area rental:

  • To start, have your group decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Salty Knights Centrally Located to Beach and Boardwalk has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Have a great stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
