How to book the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Carolina Beach. Reserve your Cape Fear area rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. NEW LISTING! A Whelk on the Beach-Upper by RedAwning has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
