Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserve your Cape Fear area rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Wilmington’s Mod Cottage: Walk to Shops & Dining has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
