Our top Cape Fear area rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the best rental in Wilmington:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Lumina Cottage Wilmington Cargo District (2bd/1ba) has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
