Our top Cape Fear area vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Finding the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing the best rental in Wilmington:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Gorgeous River View - Downtown - Parking has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
