Finding the best rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Daytona, 5 Bedroom- New Build, Second Row w\/ Private pool & Elevator has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Call the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
