Oak Island rental home booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose a perfectrental home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Breezy Oaks: Oceanfront Home with Chef's Kitchen and Child-friendly Amenities has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
