Mission BBQ has a cool location, cool interior, and a big menu that boasts a world of bold and classic southern flavors. Opened on September 11, 2011 by two friends who went on a cross-country tour to discover the flavors of truly exceptional barbecue, Mission brings all of these varieties, from Texas to St. Louis to North Carolina, home to the humble Cape Fear region.
The interior is decked out like a classic warehouse, with décor that honors the US military, and big tables that are designed for patrons to roll up their sleeves and dig in. The menu is surprisingly varied for a barbecue joint, but does include all the southern staples, including pulled chicken and pork, brisket, baby back and spare ribs, and even more unusual specialties like sausage and turkey. All of these entrees can be boosted by a southern side, like fresh cut fries, cole slaw, green beans and bacon, and homemade mac and cheese, and can be combined to make a super huge XL or XXL combo. With an array of sauces to choose from, including NC vinegar, KC classic, Memphis Belle, Texas Twang, and Tupelo Honey Heat, barbecue fans can return again and again to taste a full world of mouthwatering barbecue flavors.
