
Situated in a quiet and primarily residential corner of the city of Wilmington, the James E.L. Wade Park is a surprising and engaging destination for locals and visitors alike who want to experience the Great Outdoors of the Cape Fear region. This roughly 17-acre park which is also one of the newest public parks in the Wilmington area features a wealth of activities to attract visitors of all ages, as well as ample ways to explore the local and low-lying terrain.
The park has a nice list of amenities which includes a ½ mile long walking trail complete with multiple bridges over a local creek, an open play area for active visitors with adjacent benches for parents, and an additional and separate playground. In addition, the park features a shaded picnic area for casual meals and group outings, as well as multiple vantage spots to enjoy the local wildlife that can range from migrating or local wading birds and water birds, to handfuls of fiddler crabs and small fish.
