Come and lend a hand in keeping one of the Cape Fear coastline’s most iconic landmarks clean during this special day that brings together history buffs and volunteers of all ages. Park Day is an annual event where folks get together to freshen up the Fort Fisher Historic Site in Kure Beach, and are rewarded for their efforts with a sumptuous lunch, a free T-shirt, and a chance to get a closer look at this unique and legendary local site.

The folks at Fort Fisher welcome volunteers of all ages and skill levels to assist with an array of projects and tasks that are required to preserve this historic site. Activities include painting the many artillery guns and carriages around the site, cleaning up brush, and other little projects which all take place in this beautiful coastal setting. Tools and gloves to complete the various projects will be provided, and volunteers will be rewarded for their efforts with a complementary lunch and T-shirt provided by the local group Friends of Fort Fisher. The event is free, and interested participants are asked to call to register beforehand. Open to both visitors and locals, Park Day is a unique opportunity to give back to the community while exploring a beloved local landmark.
