Stand up paddleboard (SUP) fans of all ages and abilities will have a ball at the Carolina Cup, which is a multiple-day festival and race that celebrates SUP in style. Held at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort in Wrightsville Beach, this unique event features a combination of clinics, expos, and a full line-up of weekend paddleboard competitions that will have all attendees eager to dive into the Cape Fear watersports scene.
Over the past few years, stand up paddleboarding has grown tremendously in popularity in the Cape Fear coastal area and beyond, and the annual Carolina Cup has followed suit with a wealth of ways to enjoy this popular watersport. Serving as the official start of the local SUP racing season, the Carolina Cup competitions include a kid-friendly course, the Harbor Island Recreational "fun" race, the Money Island Open Race, and the ultimate challenge for advanced boarders - the 13.2 mile Elite Graveyard Race. The event is open to paddlers and spectators of all varieties, and in addition to the races, there will also be plenty of vendors, classes, and clinics for paddlers of all skill levels.
