Discover a beautiful little corner of the globe while celebrating Earth Day by participating in this engaging run, jog or walk that explores one of the prettiest sections of Kure Beach. The 5K Race for the Planet begins and ends at the Fort Fisher Aquarium, and the no-pressure race is a fun way to uncover all the beauty of this southernmost strip of coastline in the Cape Fear region.

The flat and mainly asphalt course of the 5K Race for the Planet makes it an easy cruise for walkers, runners and joggers of all abilities, and along the way, expect to take in some amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean, the nearby maritime forest, and the historic Fort Fisher Civil War site. All participants will receive admission to the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, which serves as the starting and finish line, and the first 300 participants will also receive reusable bag souvenirs – which are ideal for the Earth Day event! The top three finishers in varying age groups will also get eco-friendly medals, and the event is a great way for locals and visitors of all ages to enjoy a little competitive fun while supporting the preservation of the local Cape Fear environment.
