Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Cape Fear area restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing yourvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Walking distance to the ICW, mancave with a pool table and outdoor kitchen. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Cape Fear area destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
