Tips to get the very best vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Finding the best rental home in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. The Sand Bucket is within walking distance to the beach and boardwalk. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
