Getting the best Cape Fear area rental home experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Spacious condo with marina & Intercoastal views, screened-in balconies, W/D & AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area attraction you simply love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
