Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best rental home in the Cape Fear area area:
- Choose vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Rusty Anchor OKI - Walk to the Beach, Pet Friendly, Fenced Yard! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
