Tips to get the perfect Cape Fear area rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. On the dunes of Bramble Reach overlooking Atlantic Ocean! Screened in porch to take in ocean breeze has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. message the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
