Getting the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Cape Fear area attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking your prefectrental home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. @Beach Time
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
