How to get the best Cape Fear area vacation property experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Summer is high season in Oak Island. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • To start, have your family agree to a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Anchors Down: Oceanfront Condo with Seasonal Pool Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
