The annual U.S. Sailing Youth Championship is coming close to home for Cape Fear mariners, and participants and spectators alike will find plenty of reasons to cheer at this annual event. Held at the Carolina Yacht Club at Wrightsville Beach, this annual competition is an exciting sporting event that features top young sailors from around the country in a challenging race that circles the beautiful Cape Fear coastline.
The top 150 young sailors from all around the country who are ages 19 and under are invited to participate, and will meet on the edge of Wrightsville Beach to engage in the ensuing competition. Awards for the event include the famed Johnstone, Manton Scott, Conner, Stevens, and Perry Trophies, and the competition is considered one of the top sailing competitions in the world for young sporting enthusiasts. Known as the pinnacle of youth racing for the summer season, spectators who love a snapshot of life on the water are welcome to head to the yacht club to check out all the on-the-water action.
