Brave Cape Fear residents can enjoy an oh-so refreshing dip while supporting a very worthy local cause at the first annual “Freezin’ For A Reason” Polar Plunge fundraising event that benefits Special Olympics Brunswick County. Taking place at Middleton Park on Oak Island, the public is invited to join in the fun and show off their fearlessness with this engaging outing that will literally give participants the chills.

The polar plunge is the man event of Freezin’ for a Reason, but this family-friendly fundraiser will be featuring a lot more to discover than just a chilly dip in the coastal waters. The February event will also feature a full line-up of music, line dance, games, food trucks and a Care Fair, and kids and adults alike are welcome to attend and join in the celebration. Attendees are also encouraged to wear a costume, and prizes will be awarded for the best costume and most money raised via the polar plunge. All proceeds will go to benefit the Special Olympics Brunswick County, which supports hundreds of local athletes with intellectual disabilities in basketball, softball, bocce, golf, cycling, soccer, tennis, bowling, cycling, swimming and volleyball. With lots of fun on the agenda, “Freezin’ For A Reason” is a February outing that can’t be missed!
