Celebrate fly flag by flying your own colors on board one of the biggest landmarks in downtown Wilmington with this special event that combines history and patriotism with ease. The annual Flag Day at Battleship NC is a prime opportunity to celebrate the holiday while exploring one of the most impressive battleships to come out of the WWII era.
The event takes place on June 14, and is assisted with volunteers from the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard, who will help visitors in hoisting and folding their flags. All visitors for the day are welcome to bring along their own flag to fly on board of the expansive battleship, or can purchase a 3 x 5 foot American-made nylon flag on the premises to honor the holiday. While on board, visitors are encouraged to take a tour of the vessel, the USS North Carolina Battleship, which won a host of battlestars for its service during World War II, and which was the model for all future battleships to come. A grand and patriotic event for visitors of all ages, the Flag Day at Battleship NC is a great opportunity to celebrate the American spirit in the heart of Wilmington.
