Come explore Wilmington’s wild side while garnering a little knowledge about fire safety at this annual event that features ample ways to explore, learn, and have fun – especially for the Port City’s youngest residents and visitors. The Fire in the Pines Festival is a full day of activity and entertainment, with crats and games for kids, hayrides, food trucks, live music, animals, and so much more.
There’s a lot to explore at the Fire in the Pines Festival, which can range from educational displays to the appearance of a helicopter and Smokey the Bear. Popular attractions at the annual event include live animals, fire equipment exhibits, informational displays, kid’s crafts, face painting, children’s scavenger hunt, hayrides, food trucks, live music from local bands, and other activities which will delight and surprise attendees. If the weather allows, an actual controlled burn takes place during the event as well to truly put the “fire” in the Fire in the Pines Festival. The event launches at Wilmington’s own Halyburton Park and is a fine opportunity to combine a little education and a world of fun. The Fire in the Pines Festival is free to the spectators, (with food and drinks available for purchase), and is a great outing for family members of all ages.
