The 2026 Coastal Garden Club Flower Show “Quilted Flowers” runs April 24-25 (Friday April 24, 1:00PM-5:00 PM, Saturday April 25, 9:00AM-2PM) at the Shallotte Presbyterian Church. This biennial Small Standard Flower Show is recognized by the National Garden Clubs, Inc (NGC) and is a competitive exhibition that combines horticulture, floral design and educational exhibits following the strict national standards intended to educate members and the public. Judged by a panel of experienced NGC approved judges, Quilted Flowers is one of only a handful of Flower Shows scheduled to take place this year. The Flower Show is free to attend and open to the public.
The theme for this year’s show, Quilted Flowers, was determined by a group chaired by Garden Club member Bess Treadwell who liked the idea of partnering with the Brunswick Quilters Guild as a great way to draw parallels between the artistic disciplines of quilting and floral design. The Brunswick Quilters will be on hand, displaying hand-crafted quilts that will echo the classic quilting designs featured in the Flower Show.
The Coastal Garden Club was founded in 1998 as a non for profit 501c3 organization and is a member of the Garden Club or North Carolina who is celebrating their 100th anniversary (www.gardenclubofnc.org). Membership in a Garden Club is a great way to learn about home gardening, floral design and to promote the study of better horticultural practices while advocating civic beautification, preservation of native habitats, and conservation of natural resources.
