Cape Fear Seafood Company

Though almost hidden behind a busy section of College Road, Cape Fear Seafood Company nevertheless has a big reputation as one of the best places to go in Wilmington for outstanding coastal fare. Named by North Carolina’s Our State magazine as one of the top five places to try Shrimp and Grits, Cape Fear Seafood Company is the place that locals head to for the freshest fare that the Cape Fear River and Atlantic Ocean have to offer.

As expected, the menu, which is divided into appetizers, soups and salads, and entrees, has a heavy focus on seafood, with a range of plates that utilize both local and farther-away catches. In addition to the shrimp and grits, menu stand-outs include the Alaskan snow crab legs, New Bedford scallops, broiled sea scallops, and Scampi Risotto with shrimp or scallops mixed with fresh basil, roasted peppers, tomatoes & scallions. Platters are also available, as well as more casual classics like fish and chips, shrimp and scallop baskets, and grilled shrimp tacos. (Land lovers have not been ignored, as there is also a selection of filets, ribeye, and chicken breast on the menu as well.)

Just decadent enough, with a boat load of fresh fare available daily, Cape Fear Seafood Company will surely impress die-hard Wilmington seafood fans.
