Getting the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your group select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. NEW LISTING!!!! Beautiful Ocean Front View! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
