Tricks and tips to get the very best Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Cape Fear area rental home:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your Cape Fear area vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Newly renovated, clean & spacious condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
