Our top Rental home tips:

Get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Book your Cape Fear area rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the perfect rental home:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Beautiful 5BR\/4.5 bath house with pool\/hot tub. Ocean\/Waterway views sleeps 16 has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
