About this Property

General summary;

“Come hideaway for a while!” 1801 Canal suite D3 is a 2nd floor condo managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate and may be just the home away from home you are looking for! “Come hideaway for a while!” is a one-bedroom inviting condo that's just a block from our sandy shores and all the sea sights, sounds, and experiences you are looking for!

The space;

Pleasure Island has become a RAPIDLY increasing holiday destination for the entirety of the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, “overcrowding” isn’t in of itself a monumental issue. Limited parking and available housing will always create a appealing “max capacity” that will always give a appealing (and healthy) occupancy level and mood that, despite the “hordes”, will always leave copious complimentary space for those looking for a bit more “distancing” and privacy. It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The suite is directly on the North End of Carolina Beach and is a long walk or brief drive from downtown Carolina Beach and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Come with the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s (on a generous inflatable screen in the middle of the lake!). We welcome you to sit back, relax and appreciate yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for! * (due to Covid, please be prepared for periodic deviations from our usually scheduled events).

These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world magic, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while visiting with us on our Island!

The entry to this 1 bedroom and 1 bath suite opens up into a sizable, furbished family room combined with an open dining area and entirely supplied kitchen (stove+oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is supplied will all of the basic preparing and dining silverware one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home. Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen. *It is important to note that it is NOT an owner’s job to give personal family items for visitors. From toiletries and linens, to community food stuffs and condiments, It is ESPECIALLY important during this current climate for any used items of another to be discarded before our new visitors arrive to ensure an optimally hygienic space

The home is supplied with 1 (1) queen bed and 1 full pullout bed (one master bedroom bed, and one pullout couch). If renting an extended stay and utilizing the pullout, please remember a pullout is NEVER as comfortable as a standard bed. As a reminder, linens are NOT included in order to keep our costs low. You can bring them from home with you, buy them locally, or rent them (refer to Low Tide Linens & Units). If renting, please let Low Tide know that you are a guest of SWRE as they will give you with an additional 10% discount!

There is a 50” Intelligent WIFI TV (with approx. 25 channels through the Charter Spectrum cable app) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and savor some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Come with a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or other such casting device if looking to ensure all of the tech comforts from home are available during your stay!

We equip each suite with its own combination of books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our visitors to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced, and we do not always realize it (tsk tsk!). If you notice something we’ve bragged about missing please let us know!

Guest access;

The SUITE: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a respective outdoor space, patio, or balcony.

PARKING: Each guest will have access to (1) ONE un-assigned parking space (use your parking pass to avoid an accidental TOW). A $50 replacement fee will be assessed if the pass isn't left in your suite prior to departure. Any additional community parking spaces would have availability on a first come fist serve basis. We do not recommend any lot or proprietor in particular.

Neighborhood overview

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island.

The building itself is one block from the nearest beach access. The unit is a brief drive from down town Carolina Beach with its stores, activities and dining and is equidistant to the smaller, but just as appealing Down Town Kure Beach. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday nighttime, Movies at the lake each Sunday nighttime, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning (refer to carolinabeach.org for additional info!). Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to hideaway the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and ambience.

Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Units @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 (golf carts) and Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 107 Charlotte ave Carolina Beach NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all! After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

•Linens (sheets, towels, pillowcases, etc.) are NOT part of the suite rental. Pillows and basic comforters ARE supplied. Please refer to the linens chart supplied in the renting site description section for a unit’s bed sizes and plan in advance accordingly. We partner with “Low Tide Linens & Units” for any visitors looking to rent a linen package as opposed to bringing or buying your own. Mention that you are staying with SALT WATER REAL ESTATE and receive an additional 10% off of any rentable items!

• SWRE contractual peaceful hours begin at 9:00pm EST. Town ordinance may accept more latitude with regards to noise (11:00pm) but our expectations are to help ensure all visitors, locals, and neighbors alike have an delightful experience.

•NO BBQing on ANY decks or porches. This is a tremendous fire hazard and is fineable by the town (as is removing batteries from any smoke or co2 alarms). We work extremely hard to keep all of our visitors safe, and sometimes that takes teamwork!

•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective renting site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios unless the unit itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute most exemplary to find you alternative housing.

Money-saving Tips

  • Many property management companies and vacation rental properties supply Cape Fear area area promotional travel magazines which feature offers, either offered individually by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the local merchant itself. These guides may provide a great start to your vacation rental search.
  • Is it possible to change your vacation week? Off-peak times provide considerable discounts.
  • Are you a military veteran? Plenty of management companies offer discounted rates to vets and active-duty servicemembers. Make sure to confirm with property owner to see if your visiting crew is eligible for a reduced price.
  • Is there a specific experience that you are mainly anticipating during your stay? Make sure that you prioritize your proximity to the adventures and attractions you are most excited about.
  • Vacation rental companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance coverage. Trip insurance, which generally add anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base vacation rental cost, offers vacationers reimbursement of their travel costs for any nights missed as a result of health-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing extra hurricane evacuation costs or expenses, like an unanticipated hotel room stay or additional fuel. Trip insurance can be a bank account-saver if the unforseen occurs .

How to Book a Vacation Home

You may be shocked to discover how many vacation rentals are available at your destination. Rental homes are gaining in popularity among vacationers, and visitors will find that the sheer number of properties available allows them to find an perfect retreat to suit their Cape Fear area group, from low-noise condominiums to colossal event homes with several bedrooms.

The majority of rentals in Cape Fear area are privately owned and many are represented by well-known local rental management agencies. Rental owners typically select management companies to assist with promoting and advertising, house cleaning and routine maintenance.

Here are some tips and suggestions to help you navigate the vacation home search and reservation process.

How to find and reserve the right rental home:

Do you believe " "Come escape for a while!" 1801 Canal suite D3 " is the best vacation property for your next getaway? Look over this check list to confirm it fits your needs.

Search Early and Frequently

Cape Fear area vacation homes are reserved many months (and up to a year) in advance. For the greatest selection, start your planning and search 6-12 months in advance of your trip. Holiday reunions can be a popular time for family groups to plot their Summer vacations..

Choose a Village and Date

Agreement can be challenging between family members, but as soon as this challenging part is finished everything will start to slide in place.

Decide on a Size

Keep a list of attendees. How many beds and bedrooms will you need? Remember that that a lot of vacation rentals list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in the family room. You will need to figure out what is suitable for the family. Most rental home listings will outline each one of the unit's specific bedrooms and beds.

Determine Your Budget

Will the preferred rental fit your budget during that prime Summer week? If many groups or family members are sharing the cost, ensure each party knows their obligation and has approved a maximum they are willing to chip in. Usually, one person in the group will be liable for making the complete reservation and collecting each family member's contribution.

Let's Talk Amenities

What home features is the group searching for? Is a screened deck a requirement? Are you more enthusiastic about wildlife or amusements? Are extras like beach chairs, grills, beach umbrellas, buggies or coolers at your disposal and included in your rental property payment? Create a list of priority features to help narrow your search.

Accessibility and Special Circumstances

Oftentimes the elder generation has challenges with staircases. Make sure you remember and ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment requirements..

What About Furry Family Members?

Are you or other members of the gang visiting with a four-legged friend? While a number of rental homes allow pets, rules and fees vary per rental. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Examine your agreement carefully! Additional charges may apply when animals are added. Ask questions *before* you book!

It Is Time to Search

Once the area, time and people are decided, search multiple sources to find the best vacation rental selection. Besides Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we advise searching Google for "Cape Fear area local vacation homes" for local rental management companies. In addition to having distinctive rental properties, local companies provide top-notch service..

Negotiate

Re-read the description to be certain the vacation home has everything you need. If something is missing, the rental management company might know of comparable properties that suit your style and budget..

Although not true for all rental properties, many property owners and property managers will make a deal on rates. If they are hesitant to budge on a peak-season stay, try getting an additional night. Off-peak weeks will be negotiable more often than peak-season..

Read Through The Agreement

You should know which services are included:

  • Utility bills
  • WIFI Access
  • Long Distance Phone Service
  • Pool and hot tub heating
  • Pay Per View Movies
  • Cleaning services and housekeeping
  • Trash Pickup (and which day?)
  • Maintenance policies
  • Check in & Check Out Key Exchange
  • Parking Space

Ensure that your quoted fee includes all state taxes and fees.

Cancelling your Rental Home

Cancellation policies vary for each property. You will likely be offered trip insurance. Trip insurance safeguards the renter against emergency situations and weather events, It gives you comfort should disaster strike.

Book It

Once you think you've identified "the one", begin the booking process. You'll probably need to submit a security deposit at time of reservation.

Keep Your Contact's Information

Make sure you get the manager's contact telephone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the contact's details in your phone and wallet.

Congratulations! All that is left is making the most of your vacation!

During your Stay

  • Record the condition of the rental home right away. We also suggest immediately getting in touch with the property manager with a report of any damage, together with your request for any repairs. If there is a disagreement about legal liability later, having the recorded problems and communication attempts should be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. If you have any ambiguity about vehicle parking, rules of the house, condo access, swimming pool operations, etc... we suggest you ask the rental manager immediately. A quick phone call helps prevent many head aches.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Residents invariably live within earshot. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a trip considerably more pleasurable.
  • Ask a local. Locals are a good source of suggestions.
  • Enjoy your stay! Make certain to protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the property secured when you are away, exactly like you would at home.

At the end of your stay

  • Tidy up a bit. Even though you're having to pay a house cleaning fee, The vacation home really needs to be in very good condition. Sinks brimming with pots and pans, excessive beach sand on the floors and sticky messes ought to be remedied prior to leaving.
  • Make sure to walk through the rental one final time and check for damages. If it is possible, do this walk-out review with the property manager present. If the property manager is not available, make sure to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • How do you rate your experience? Virtually all rental home sites ask for testimonials after your stay . Rental owners and property managers will thank you for favorable critiques. If anything was wrong and they didn't correct it in a reasonable manner, or when the vacation rental wasn't as described, you may want to make it a point in your review.

Iterate

Did everybody have a blast? Maybe everything turned out to be outstanding and you are excited to re-book the same rental for next year. If not, you've acquired invaluable rental search experience that will help with the next search.
