Independence Day Celebration
Celebrate the Nation's Independence at the battle site that convinced North Carolina to be the first state to call for the final break with England. The American victory at Moores Creek led North Carolina to instruct its delegates in the Continental Congress to vote for Independence. This event features a variety of activities, including militia camps, musket and cannon firing, colonial medicine, and other demonstrations. Moores Creek National Battlefield

Presented by the CFCC Boat Building program, the festival serves as an annual celebration of the tradition and craft of wooden boat building. CFCC's wooden boat festival attracts thousands of visitors every year. The event features over 50 wooden boats including kayaks and skiffs. Students in CFCC's Boat Building program will exhibit their own work and conduct demonstrations of traditional boat building techniques like bending wood using steam. Build Your Own Boat!
